The number of european fly fishermen heading to the tropics or other saltwater destinations worldwide is growing rapidly. No surprise, cause the strength and power of bonefish, permit, tarpon and other species are unmatched. And although beeing located in Finland, Vision was one of the first brands in Europe developing rods for the special needs of saltwater fishing.
Two years ago they initiated the 'Pass me the salt' project and used their experiences made with the premium XO rods and their unique silicia nano resin combination with a mix of different carbon fibres to create a first class saltwater rod: The Merisuola (fin. 'sea salt').
The Merisuola offers various high-end features and doesn't require hiding from the tough competitors in this price range. In cooperation with guides and professional fly fishermen worldwide prototypes have been tested on the field and revised critically. The natural unsanded and unpainted blank performs amazing in heavy winds. Due to the rods fast action and high recovery speed long and precise casts are no problem. Very important, when you just have a few seconds and only one or two shots on the fish of your lifetime. The full wells handle made from AAAA portuguese cork feels just great, while the double nut up-locking reel seat (precision machined aluminum) keeps your reel in place. Size of the fighting butt varies with each rod weight and shows the target fish branded on the end cap: bonefish, permit and tarpon. Patented single leg REC nickel titanium alloy snake guides and Titanium stripping guides (from American Tackle Company) are super lightweight and of course corrosion-free.
