Vision Hero fly reels have a silky smooth but powerful disc brake, consisting of a total of five carbon and stainless steel discs. The spool on the smaller reels has a simple and quick screw cap, while on the Salmon size it has a waterproof and secure pop-out system.
The Standard Hero fly reels in sizes 46 and 79 are true all-around reels for all types of fly fishing. The 46 handles traditional river and lighter stillwater fishing with ease and will take a WF6F fly line with enough backing. Its weight is matched to rods in these classes, and the large spool diameter reduces a memory effect on the line. The 79 is a bigger brother that handles everything from heavier river fishing to predator fishing and lighter saltwater fishing. A great choice for those looking for an affordable Pike reel! The 911 size Salmon model has a similar look to the smaller models, but it has a different braking system installed. Since this reel will be facing larger fish and tougher conditions, it has a stronger and more waterproof brake system. The brake itself is again made of carbon and stainless steel, giving us a smooth, reliable and powerful brake. Inside, everything is sealed behind O-rings to keep water and debris out. The Hero Salmon's frame has a continuous, closed cage, so you can use thin running lines without fear of unwanted jamming. The reel's generous capacity provides ample room for shooting heads of all kinds.
Rarely has there been a reel series in this price range that appealed to us so immediately. Real price-performance winners, which allow a perfect entry into the world of fly fishing - but also convince advanced anglers. By the way, you don't need to wear a cape when you take to the water with a Hero fly reel. A pair of waders will do just fine.
