Product information "Tungsten Slotted Beads Big Pack"

Tungsten beads are an important part of every fly tier’s arsenal - at least when nymphs and streamers are patterns that will end up in your box. Tungsten has several key advantages over other materials (brass, lead, etc.). First, the weight is significantly higher for the same diameter/volume than for other metals. As a result, your nymph sinks faster towards the bottom and smaller hook sizes can be used, even in faster turbulent water. A big plus on heavily-fished waters! When throwing streamers, Tungsten beads keep the pattern down and don’t allow the current to push the steamer to the surface - keeping your fly in “The Zone” longer. Another big benefit of Tungsten is that it is a non-toxic material, which keeps our rivers, beaches, and lakes clean for both us and the wildlife in the environment.

If you want to give your pattern an extra trigger-point that can get hesitant fish to commit, then you should definitely try the colored anodized tungsten beads!

Slotted beads are commonly used for jig hooks. The special slotted hole allows the bead to slip over the angled eye of the jig and the hook runs up, with the shank of the hook facing the bottom while being fished. Among other benefits of jig-style patterns, they are less likely to snag on the bottom.
