The Spring Hackle Plier has a pivoting head that can be handled very precisely and ergonomically when tying with hackles, quill or tinsel. Especially fine dry fly hackles tend to break under high tension and the additional rotation of the quill. The swivel head prevents this and always directs itself in the direction of the tension, so that the hackle is at a 90° angle to the hook. In addition, the integrated spring prevents too much or even too little tension being applied to the hackle.
