When it comes to the biggest predators of the seas, we should not compromise on the equipment, this is especially true for the reels. The SGS8 from Savage Gear is designed for just such applications. It combines incredible performance with light weight and a very attractive price. Housing and handle are made of sturdy aluminum, while the rotor is made of a carbon reinforced composite material. A mixture of materials, which is absolutely torsion and salt water resistant. This has been proven by the merciless endurance tests! In addition, the reel was treated with a special SW500 coating, which protects the reel sustainably from salt water.
The aluminum handle is screwed into the gear wheel without wobbling and transmits the rotational force directly to the gear. The 8+1 stainless steel ball bearings ensure smooth running, even under the toughest conditions. The ball bearings are also completely sealed and protected from external influences. The proprietary DuraGrease provides long-term protection of the gear against corrosion and wear, even under the toughest conditions. The Fricton Control System 3 is also completely sealed and perfectly protected from external influences. This drag system is based on 3-layer drag washers: A fiberglass washer coated on both sides with carbon fiber. This makes the discs particularly stiff and robust, and can even be reversed to extend the service life. The drag washers produce incredible drag force, which can be very finely adjusted, but produces impressive fish-stopping-power with tensions up to over 20 kg. Perfect, for the toughest saltwater use when going after big Tuna, Giant Trevally, Rooster Fish or other tropical giants.
