The Metanium DC is the flagship of the Shimano baitcasting reels. An absolutely powerful and high-quality reel for perch, zander and light pike fishing. It convinces with almost every advanced and sophisticated technology Shimano has to offer, with particular emphasis on the I-DC5 technology.
Unlike conventional baitcasting reels, the Metanium does not feature a magnetic or centrifugal brake that regulates spool rotation during the cast, but rather the I-DC5 technology. This waterproof braking system, which is automatically powered by spool rotation, incorporates a computer chip that measures spool rotation up to 1000 times a second and independently makes the correct adjustments for optimal casting. Only small presettings should be made and nothing more stands in the way of the casting pleasure. This modern braking system minimizes the risk of wigs and reduced casting distances immensely and your fishing day is more relaxed.
The Super Free Spool System (SF) ensures high casting distances because a typical problem of conventional baitcasting reels is avoided. When operating the clutch bar, friction can occur between the pinion gear and the spool shaft. With the SF technology, the Pinion Gear is supported on a ball bearing, keeping all components in perfect alignment and eliminating friction. Of course, the spool also plays a big role in achieving respectable casting distances. S3D technology prevents vibration of the thin-walled and lightweight aluminum spool, which further increases casting distance and also makes cranking in smoother.
Encased are the internal components in the high-quality and lightweight magnesium Hagane reel body, which is characterized by immense resistance, stability and torsional rigidity. In this high-quality reel body is the X-Ship gearbox installed. Designed for immense power transmission and robustness, the gear also convinces with an extremely smooth running.
The Metanium DC is Shimano's flagship model and is excellent for light to medium heavy fishing for perch, zander and pike.
