The Premium XStream PE Backing from Guideline is exactly the right choice if you need particularly high capacity and / or a very strong backing on your reel. It consists of eight round braided PE (polyethylene) strands. Compared to conventional Dacron backing, it is significantly thinner with the same breaking strain. In addition, the Gelspun material has a very smooth surface and thus runs even better through the guides. Hence, gentler for the your rod and the line material itself, even under extreme load.
The bright multi-colored backing changes color every 20 m and gives every combination - whether for freshwater or saltwater - a special splash of color. Tip: When knotting, double up the backing to increase the knot strength on these very thin lines. This doubles the surface area in the knot and increases the knot's breaking strain tremendously. The double loop also has the advantage that the backing does not cut into the connection to the fly line.
