Veniard Dyes for Feathers and Furs

Veniard dyes allow you to color all sorts of tying materials ranging from loose feathers to entire capes, furs, masks and dubbing – permanent, waterproof and in brilliant colors.
A great way to pimp your materials, turn exhausted dry-fly capes into flashy streamer capes or to simply let things shine in new splendour (e.g. found fethers).

Instructions
1.) Clean and degrease the materials to be dyed with a suitable detergent e.g. Veniard Venpol Detergent (sold separately). Especially waterfowl naturally has very greasy skin and feathers and should be cleaned rigorously.  Therefore, give the materials into the detergent solution for about 30 minutes and wash off thoroughly with lukewarm water. Venpol is very powerful detergent, so work carefully, wear safety gloves and glasses if need be.
2.) Dissolve ¼ teaspoon of dye in about one liter of boiling water and wait until fully dissolved.
3.) Add a tablespoon of vinegar to the slightly cooled solution and add the tying materials.
4.) Simmer the materials while keeping them moving at all times.
5.) Remove the materials from the dye immediately or when cooled down or leave them in the solution overnight depending on the desired color intensity. Then squezze them between paper towels and leave them to dry naturally.
6.) Done!
