Of course, the Marc Petitjean MPT15 Thread Splitter is ideal for splicing. Alternatively, you pierce the center of the thread with a dubbing needle and split it. Then fill the resulting loop with any tying material, such as dubbing or feather material. By holding the tying thread tightly, the material is clamped and you can tie it around the fly. Additional hold in the loop is given if some glue is applied, so even the lightest material will not fall out of the loop in a breeze or when releasing tension on the thread.
