Faux Bucktail by Fish Skull is an innovative and extremely versatile tying material suitable for all typical bucktail applications such as Clouser Minnows, Deceiver, Surf Candy variants, pike and musky streamers as well as sea trout and salmon flies. Apart from the classical patterns the synthetic bucktail look alike also produces extremely nice tapered quill bodies, tails, legs and wing cases on your dry fly and nymph patterns. The advantage: Faux Bucktail is less fragile and hence easier and more reliable to work with. At a first glance Faux Bucktail looks very much like the real thing. It has all the nice features, the slightly curled surface and same the nice taper with thin tips. However, the fibers are solid and therefore make your fly sink better. The underwater action of Faux Bucktail is by no means inferior to real bucktail and creates a nice flowing motion which is very seductive to predatory fish!
Every single fiber of Faux Bucktail measures in at 15cm giving you approximately twice the amount of long usable fibers compared to ordinary bucktail. Sorting, selecting and stacking of fibers is not necessary anymore and you might even give your vacuum cleaner a break ;) Simply cut out a bundle at the desired length and you are ready to go!
- Trout flies: Beautiful tapered wrapped quill bodies, nymph wing cases, Mayfly tails and legs.
- Streamers: Clouser Minnows, Deceivers, Pike and Musky flies.
- Poppers: durable tails on poppers
Tip:
Faux Bucktail cuts easily, but like most other synthetic materials can be hard on your nice scissors. Use serrated heavy duty scissors designed for synthetics or an old pair you dont care about.
