Fly tying materials from Fasna are characterized by best fishability and offer an interesting price-performance ratio. The Dutch manufacturer has become known through its involvement in the international competition scene. After Fasna products first proved their excellent quality with European competition anglers, Fasna materials are now known and popular worldwide. This is also true for Fasna tungsten beads, which are manufactured to the highest quality standards and are available in many nice colors.
Tungsten beads belong in the arsenal of every fly tyer - at least when nymphs and streamers are to go into the fly box. Compared to other materials (e.g. brass or lead), tungsten has some key advantages: Firstly, the weight is significantly higher than other metals for the same diameter. This means your nymph sinks faster towards the bottom and smaller hook sizes can be fished. A big plus on busy waters! Secondly, tungsten is non-toxic and therefore safe for our rivers and lakes.
If you want to give your pattern an extra touch, then you should definitely try the colour anodised tungsten beads or metallic versions!
Slotted beads are usually used for jig hooks. The special hole allows the bead to slide over the angled eye of the jig and the hook to run upside-down during presentation. This tying method reduces the chance of getting stucked on the river bottom.
