The Waterpushing Foam from Bauer is a round cylinder made of foam. When tying pike streamers, they are cut into thin slices and pulled onto the hook leg as a finishing touch, ensuring that your pattern generates a lot of pressure under water when stripping. And it is pressure waves that often cause pike to become aware of our streamers.
The idea of the Waterpushing Foam was mainly spread by Niklaus Bauer, who also uses the foam to ensure that the streamer sinks slowly and can be fished flat - for example over herb banks. Of course the round foam cylinders can also be used for poppers and other surface patterns.
Tip:
To fix the foam you can first apply some epoxy to a base of binding thread on the hook leg. The binding material is then only pushed over the eye of the hook and then sits securely in position.
