The fur of American Squirrels has lots of characteristics, making it an ideal tying material for dubbing-applications and zonker stripes.
The fine mottled hair with super smooth under-fur and coarser top-fur makes for ideal dubbing - great for spikey nymph-bodies, thorax and tails as well as shrimp and gammarus patterns. Twisted in a dubbing loop this subtle material works great for hackles and bodies on salmon- seatrout- and steelhead flies too.
