Mallard Hen Flank is great for claws on crawfish patterns and for coloration on sculpin patterns. They are also perfect for tying nymphs, wet flies and also for mayfly patterns. The popular Jack Sedge is tied with Mallard Hen Flank feathers to: Just add two feathers to your hook shank and pull them slightly. As a result you get the typical wing shape of a caddis fly. Add some floatant and you have a highly imitative dry fly!
