Many classic and modern flies contain raffia – a natural material, which is harvested from specific palm trees. Semperfli Swiss Straw is an artificial raffia substitute, which is (like a lot of substitutes) more durable than the original. This highly versatile material shapes great wings, wing cases, scud backs and much more. Even wings of emerging nymphs can be perfectly imitated.
The special structure of Swiss Straw makes it very strong and almost impossible to tear crosswise. Though, it can easily be separated lengthwise, to create the desired width. This set contains ten nice colours, ideal for natural imitations and small lures. Swiss Straw can be coloured with permanent markers, which makes it an even more versatile material.
Whether as closed sedge wings or as spread, flat wings of a mayfly spinner: Semperfli Swiss Straw makes easy and very durable imitations of many interesting insects possible.
