Articulated Shanks provide your streamers with additional movement. After every strip, the fly will buckle at the articulation, creating an irresistible attraction for predators. Even unweighted flies will show a "jigging" effect. The video below shows our articulated Pike Terror Flies in action.
Application: At first tie the tail of you streamer onto a normal hook (e.g. Partridge Universal Predator). Then thread the hook eye on the open end of an Articulated Shank, clamp the eye of it to the vise and start with a tight base layer of windings all over the shank. We recommend using a head cement or glue to secure these. Proceed as normal with the head on the shank...
If you like fishing with stinger hooks, these shanks are a great base to build off of. A stinger hook is placed at the very and of the fly to generate more hook ups. For that just tie a loop of hard mono or steel onto the shank and rig your stinger hook before fishing. This is a common method for Steelhead streamers that works well for Trout and much more too!
Hint: Use several Articulated Shanks in a row to create big pike streamers with incredible buckling action!
