Zen Tenkara Hachi Rod Tenkara Rod

The first Tenkara anglers, around two to three hundred years ago, were professional fishermen who either fed their own families with their catch or sold part of it. The equipment of the original Tenkara professional fishermen was simple: rods made of bamboo, lines made of twisted horsehair, and basic artificial flies made of natural materials. In Tenkara, fishing is usually done in the upper reaches of a river, where the water surface is not too large and small pockets form between the stones. During fishing, the rod is held so steeply that only the leader and the fly touch the water surface. With short, quick casts, the fly can be precisely placed in the various pockets of the stream, exactly where the salmonids wait for insects. Tenkara is an exciting form of fishing where the experience of nature is paramount.

The Zen Tenkara Hachi Rod is the fastest rod from Zen Tenkara, offering the ability to bring the fly to the water extremely quickly and has an equally fast recovery rate. The sensitive, fast action of the high-quality Tenkara rod makes presenting the dry fly very easy. A light swing is enough to load the rod and present the twisted leader along with the fly anew. This allows you to very effectively target and fish the small hiding spots of the trout. You should never forget to pack a nymph, as a Tenkara rod is also ideal for nymph fishing in small streams, similar to modern Euro-nymphing. Besides the speed of the rod, its short length is immediately noticeable. At only 2.08 meters, the Hachi is the perfect Tenkara rod for small streams. Additionally, the design of the Hachi is striking, featuring a yellow blank equipped with a 19 cm long EVA handle, which is extremely durable and sits securely in the hand.

The Tenkara Hachi is a fine, fast Tenkara rod with a length of 6, 10 ft, and when collapsed, it is just 40.6 cm long. This way, the rod fits in almost any backpack, allowing you to enrich your hike along the stream with a few casts into the pockets.

About Zen Tenkara:

Zen Tenkara was founded in 2012 by Karin Miller in Colorado out of fascination and passion for this traditional style of fishing. Zen revolutionizes this method of fixed line fly fishing and is known for creating a "fusion" of traditional fly fishing and tenkara fishing to catch not only small, traditional tenkara species, but also large, powerful fish not normally associated with this ancient Japanese method. Karin Miller, who remains at the helm of Zen Tenkara, has earned a reputation for being extremely innovative and pushing boundaries with her high-performance tenkara rods.
