The first tenkara anglers around two to three hundred years ago were professional fishermen who either fed their own families with their catch or sold it in some cases. The equipment of the original tenkara professional fishermen was simple: rods made of bamboo, lines made of twisted horsehair, the simplest artificial flies made of natural materials. Tenkara is usually fished only in the upper reaches of a river, where the water surface is not too large and small pockets are formed between the stones. During fishing the rod is held so steeply that only the leader and the fly touch the water surface. By short fast casts the fly can be held precisely in the different pockets of the stream, exactly where the salmonids are waiting for insects. Tenkara is an exciting fishery where the experience of nature is paramount.

It includes all the essential parts of a complete tenkara angler, up to 12 great dry flies for successful fishing. The rod of the kit is a 12 ft long telescopic rod that allows you to quickly scan the spots of the stream. When assembled, the Zen-Tenkara-Zako rod is just 53 inches long, making it ideal for stowing in your backpack on high alpine hikes. The all-round rod has a medium-fast action and is comparable to a #4 to #5 class fly rod. Simple swings with the hand are enough to load the tenkara rod and reposition the fly on the fine line. The line included in the set is an 11ft long Uni-Thread tenkara fly line. An extremely visible, twisted tenkara line to which only the tippet needs to be tied, which is of course also included for the perfect launch. Gelled is the fine Tenkararute with sheath and safely stowed in a rod tube with screw cap. Also ingenious is that a spare tip is supplied, which can be easily replaced specifically. For this, the cover, below the high-quality cork handle can be unscrewed and the conical tip part pulled out.
