Thomas & Thomas rods have been handcrafted on American soil since 1969 in Greenfield, MA, and are globally recognized for their high-end fly rods boasting an absolutely perfect finish.
The Thomas & Thomas Exocett SS is an extremely powerful rod specifically designed for fishing with heavy, large flies as well as sink lines or ultra-compact floating lines. The focus of the rod is clearly on modern, highly effective fishing with streamers for predators in both fresh and saltwater. Only the best corrosion-resistant components have been used, such as aluminum reel seats and titanium rings with inserts. But above all, the unique blank of the rod ensures that the SS is an absolute workhorse, both in casting bushy streamers and in the fight!
The action of the rod is a fast, almost-action action, with the blank working along its entire length and opening slightly wider; this has the advantage of slightly opening the loop in the cast, preventing large flies, which are often somewhat unruly in the cast, from touching the rod tip. Nevertheless, despite the larger loop, the rod generates tremendous line speed, allowing for extremely long casts. The power of the rod is immediately noticeable, and only a few false casts are needed to shoot the fly. Furthermore, the blank has been developed to work excellently with modern, compact fly lines, whether with poppers or large, weighted streamers. Another impressive point is the Exocett SS's enormous lifting power. Several meters of sink line can be lifted out of the water without any problems to recast the fly. This power also pays off enormously when fishing for pike or zander from a boat or belly boat. Boat anglers using cutting-edge technology such as fishing with Livescope quickly appreciate the power of the rod.
The components used and the craftsmanship of the 8.8 ft short rod testify to the highest quality and attention to detail. The titanium rings of the T&T rod are hand-wrapped with extreme precision on the dark blue, matte blank and perfectly lacquered. Each part of the 4-piece rod is marked with the number of the batch used, ensuring that each part was made from the same materials and will be remanufactured in the event of a warranty claim! The grip of the SS consists of a pore-free cork, as well as a reinforced part made of a cork composite, so that no inclusions are visible even after years. Two lock nuts provide extra secure attachment of the reel to the aluminum reel seat, which can be tightened with plenty of grip thanks to their recesses and ribbed sections.
The Exocett SS has long convinced us, whether fishing for peacock bass with large poppers or for native streamer fishing for trout, perch, and pike. Not only can the Multi-Modulus Strato-Therm blank of the Thomas & Thomas Exocett SS be pushed to the extreme in a fight, but the components of the rod can withstand the toughest conditions - and that for years to come!

100 % American Hand Made Fly Rods seit 1969! The rod you will eventually own!
