Thomas & Thomas Avantt II Seatrout Singel Handed Fly Rod

Thomas & Thomas rods have been handcrafted on American soil in Greenfield, MA since 1969 and enjoy worldwide recognition for their high-end fly rods, which boast absolutely perfect finishes.

The Thomas & Thomas Avantt II is the next generation of the extremely popular and almost perfectly crafted T&T Avantt fly rod. And this new generation of Avantt seamlessly continues this high standard, both in craftsmanship and performance! The blank of the Avantt II is made from 5 different types of premium fibers, which undergo a modern and highly qualitative manufacturing process for bonding. The fibers are bonded using T&T's proprietary aerospace resin system to effectively close microscopic voids. The fibers are aligned at strategic angles to give the blank outstanding performance with a smooth-fast action. These ingenious manufacturing steps in rolling the blanks ensure that the new Avantt II has a highly balanced blank, which convinces with unparalleled smoothness and efficiency in loading the rod. In practice, this means that the rod provides an incredible feel right from the first false casts and enables an impressive, precise casting distance effortlessly!

The components used and the craftsmanship of the new Avantt testify to the highest quality and attention to detail. The titanium rings of the T&T rod are hand-wrapped onto the blank with extreme precision and flawlessly painted with a semi-gloss finish. Each part of the 4-piece rod is marked with the number of the batch used, ensuring that each part was 100% made from the same materials in Greenfield and will be remanufactured in the event of a warranty claim! The grip of the Avantt II is made of pore-free cork and very high-quality cork, which is ground in a new special Wells shape. This shape provides optimal grip and ingenious control over the cast, no matter how you hold the fly rod. For extra secure grip, the aluminum reel seat with heavily knurled lock nuts ensures that they can be tightened with particularly strong grip.

The Thomas & Thomas Avantt II has managed to surpass the already ingenious, handcrafted Avantt fly rod of the first generation. The blank of the Avantt II, with its typically smooth, fast action characteristic of T&T, convinces us across the board. It offers not only a great deal of feel and high precision but also unparalleled tranquility in the cast and maximum distance in the throw without exertion. These characteristics, together with high-quality components and the ingenious, timeless design of the Avantt II, make this Thomas & Thomas fly rod to a real shooting-machine and one of the best rods for the coast, the lake or river.

Thomas & Thomas Technologies:

  • High-Quality Graphite Options:
Thomas & Thomas understands that the finished fly rod is only as good as the materials incorporated into it and that the stiffest graphite is not always the right choice for a particular rod or purpose. Thomas & Thomas constructs fly rods from a range of high-quality graphites with different elongation values and recovery speeds, providing Tom Dorsey and the design team the ability to develop the most effective modern tapers and actions while preserving the distinctive Thomas & Thomas feel.
  • Proprietary Binders:
The performance of graphite fibers depends on the quality of the binder that holds them together. Binder technology has rapidly improved in recent years, and T&T has collaborated with industry-leading companies to develop its own resin that enhances the performance of the graphite materials. In this new resin, T&T uses nanoscale particles to eliminate microscopic voids in the graphite. Filling these tiny gaps with this high-performance resin enhances the strength, durability, and damping properties of the rod blank while simultaneously reducing overall weight.
  • Ferrule Reinforcement Process / FRP:
In fly rods, the ferrules are the areas subjected to the most critical stresses. For this reason, T&T rolls a strategic additional layer of high-strength graphite by hand over these areas. In addition to reinforcing the ferrule, the process adds a special detail to the fly rods.
  • Optimal Blank Curing / OBC:
The performance qualities of the graphite blanks and the nanoparticle resins used heavily depend on the curing process. Changes in the curing process are immediately reflected in the blank's performance. Thomas & Thomas takes the curing process very seriously and employs only a regulated, precise temperature control procedure. OBC helps T&T achieve maximum performance from graphite and binders while ensuring strict quality control.
  • Low Friction Finish / LFF :
Anyone who has ever held a T&T rod with LFF will notice that the blank feels unique. The Low Friction Finish utilizes nanotechnology to create a smooth surface that repels water and eliminates the surface tension that resists the fly line during casting. LFF gives Thomas & Thomas rods a performance advantage when casting and shooting fly lines.

About Thomas & Thomas:

100 % American Hand Made Fly Rods seit 1969! The rod you will eventually own!
