Orvis Helios F Finesse Single handed Fly Rod

Your best is now 4x better! With the long-awaited introduction of the new Helios fly rods, Orvis is launching a full offensive and shaking up the fly rod market quite a bit. Because with the technical specifications of their new flagship, Orvis makes a bold statement: 4 times more precise, 25% stronger, and 10% reduced swing weight compared to the competition. That's quite an announcement! This is backed up by empirical data from intensive test studies and a seven-year development process. Whether on a small trout stream or targeting giant saltwater predators, Orvis covers the entire spectrum in the single-handed category with the different D (=distance) and F (=finesse) models.

With the Helios 3, the American traditional company set new standards in rod construction. Since its launch in 2017, the Helios 3 rods have gained many followers around the globe and have been particularly celebrated for their precision, which has become the gold standard for the fly rod market. In the development process of the new Helios, this standard served as the basis for an even more precise, even better rod. The fourth generation of Helios rods are among the most advanced fly rods on the market and the result of almost two decades of intensive rod development and technological progress.

Precision - 4X more precise!
4 times as precise as its predecessor. This is a quantum leap in precision and almost unbelievable. But this number is backed by empirical data collected through specially developed measurement methods for this purpose. A major problem with precision is the tip displacement after the rod stop in the cast. This uncontrolled vibration of the tip has been drastically reduced in the new Helios fly rod. The result: a more efficient energy transfer and precision akin to target shooting.

Power - 25% stronger!
Precision brings the fly to the fish, but the power in the blank ultimately brings it to the net or boat. After years of analyzing the reasons for rod breakage in other rods, especially its direct predecessor (Helios 3), the main reasons for rod breakage were identified and largely eliminated. "More bend and backbone", this not only sounds good, but it's also the reason why the new Helios rods are 25% more powerful, thus defining the new gold standard in the market. The new Helios has a more homogeneous bending curve, distributing tension under load over the entire blank and relieving stress points that are more prone to break. Ultimately, this means more lifting power, so you can handle precarious situations with even more confidence.

Quality - "Overengineered is an understatement"
Not only in terms of the performance of the new Helios rods was the best on the market just good enough as a basis to go back to the drawing board. Also, in terms of the material and component selection of the rod, there is currently nothing better on the market. Each rod model has received perfectly matched components for its intended use. You can tell immediately from the shape and design of the grip and reel seat. For example, the lightest models have been given a fine half-wells grip made of the highest quality cork, the nymph models a downlocking reel seat with a small fighting butt, the heavier fresh water models an ergonomic, slightly smaller full-wells grip with fighting butt, and the heavier predator and saltwater rods a stronger full-wells grip with composite reinforcement for improved durability and more grip. The smooth, robust screw reel seat made of Type III anodized aluminum has been embellished with a high-quality spacer made of noble burl wood in the saltwater models. Other features that contribute to the 10% reduced swing weight are the high-quality guides and minimalist blank finish. Titanium stripping guides with SiC insert and RECoil snake guides made of titanium reduce weight, improve the blank's recovery, and contribute to the rod's longevity. And for perfect protection of the rod during transport, the high-quality case with snap closure and a slim aluminum rod tube ensure safety.

  • Helios 3F:
The fourth generation of Helios rods are available in two different versions: F (Finesse) and D (Distance). The finesse versions of the new Helios rods focus particularly on presentation characteristics, finesse, and lightness. So typical scenarios of local fishing for trout and grayling. Its blank offers excellent feedback and brings your fly to the target with incredible precision - and lays it there as cleanly as a feather. All models from the F-series are ideal for technical presentations and tricky fish in all situations that demand perfection and wherever thinnest leaders are used. Are you looking for incredible feeling and precision? Welcome to the destination!
