*1The Hardy Aydon is here: This rod series from the renowned English manufacturer follows in the footsteps of the popular Hardy Shadow, raising high expectations among many Hardy fans. The good news: With the Aydon, Hardy presents a worthy successor to the successful rod, featuring an impressive price-performance ratio, high-quality components, and a versatile lineup of different rod models. The Aydon offers a true premium rod at an affordable price. What we particularly appreciate: Each individual rod model is perfectly tailored to its specific application.
Hardy Aydon 10ft #4 Nymph & Dry
This exciting hybrid model is particularly aimed at finesse enthusiasts who enjoy switching between precise dry fly fishing and modern nymphing techniques. Thanks to its 10 ft length and fine tip, the rod is especially suitable for short-line nymphing techniques. The action is versatile enough to keep dry fly lines stable in the air over longer distances and to accurately place them in front of the fish. Additionally, adhesion casts (roll casts, switch casts, etc.) can be easily executed with this blank length and the right line.
This is due in no small part to Hardy's own blank technology and special carbon matrix. With the Aydon, Hardy relies on their long-proven Sintrix technology, which provides plenty of power and energy, as well as quick recovery, offering incredible feedback through the blank and thus a high degree of sensitivity. What this means for you on the water: The rod perfectly balances casting performance and "fish feel" in the water. The well-tuned medium-fast action with crisp recovery also contributes to this. Precision and feedback in casting are maintained, while longer presentations are possible even with a bit more wind. Lateral vibrations are effectively dampened, which is particularly noticeable with the 10ft length.
The construction of the rod is, as expected from Hardy, flawless and uses the highest quality components despite the affordable price. The hard-chromed single-leg guides and the high-quality titanium stripping guides with ceramic inserts are perfectly placed on the olive green blank. They reduce friction and increase the durability of your line. The lightweight reel seat with double locking nuts securely holds your reel and discreetly completes the overall look of the rod, especially with the beautiful wood spacer.
In short: Many Hardy fans had high expectations for the successor to the popular Shadow series. The Aydon steps up as a worthy heir and even goes a step further. The high-quality construction of the rod, combined with its user-friendly action, will delight many fly anglers. We are particularly pleased with the outstanding price-performance ratio of the new Aydon—Hardy has truly outdone themselves. Hats off!
