Nymph Rod - that's the short and concise name for the long-awaited successor to the successful Competition MK I nymph rods from Cortland. And like their predecessor, the new Cortland Nymph Rod is aiming for the throne of the best Euro Nymphing rod under €300. In order to achieve the optimal presentation of fine leaders and small nymphs, once again, collaboration with experienced competition fly anglers from the USA and Europe was sought. A collaboration that once again bears serious fruit! Because the Cortland Nymph Rod not only has a more modern design but also benefits from the latest developments in 'French Nymphing' and 'Euro Nymphing'. The blank is now a bit thinner and made of a different carbon fiber mixture. Similar to the higher-priced MK II nymph rods, the action is now a bit faster - without compromising the sensitivity that is so essential in Euro Nymphing rods. The Cortland Nymph Rod is a special rod with a fast tip and plenty of power reserves in the lower part of the blank - very important when it comes to effectively landing large Brown Trout or Barbel.
The equipment list of the Cortland Nymph Rod includes a slender half-wells grip made of quality cork, a fighting butt made of composite cork, and a down-locking reel seat. As a result, the weight of the reel moves further to the rear, ensuring a better balance of the long rod. This saves strength and prevents fatigue of the shoulder while high sticking. The type and arrangement of the guide ring and the single-foot rings (now even larger) have been revised and minimize a possible slouching effect from the line in your rod guides. The slender unpainted blank in an inconspicuous, dull black. contributing to the overall reduced weight of the rod. Only fine decorative windings give this rod its minimalist color accents.
With a length of 10.6ft., the Cortland Nymph Rod are true all-rounders and cover the vast majority of modern nymph fishing scenarios. With this series of rods, Cortland has once again delivered a rod to give the “under €300 segment” a serious competitor. A clear recommendation from us for all nymph anglers who are looking for a very good price-performance ratio.
