G.Loomis GLS IMX-Pro Fly V2 Shortspey Double Handed Fly Rod

With the V2, G.Loomis introduces the second generation of the popular IMX-Pro Fly Rod family. These 'Allwater' single-hand and two-hand rods are designed for continuous use in both freshwater and saltwater, handcrafted with the best components in Woodland, Washington (USA). The rod series, with its fast action, covers a broad range of applications and offers suitable models for many typical scenarios, such as delicate trout fishing with the Short Spey fly rod. Like its successful predecessors, the IMX-Pro Fly V2 also provides an attractive entry into the world of G.Loomis and a perfect price-performance ratio.

Fishing with a Short Spey or Trout Spey two-handed fly rod for trout and other species is becoming increasingly popular, as it allows anglers to catch larger fish and reach the other bank with just one cast, especially in places with little backspace. However, for these underhand casts, the two-handed rods need an excellent load to make casting easy while achieving maximum distances. Therefore, specialized tools with innovative actions and components configured to meet a range of unique requirements are needed. With the new IMX-Pro V2, G.Loomis introduces another fly rod that not only meets the properties of its predecessor but also surpasses it in terms of performance. The new V2 of the IMX-Pro is a brilliant workhorse, capable of delivering optimal performance in casting but especially in fighting fish, without reaching its limits. With a moderate bending pattern and ample power through the lower half of the blank, the G.Loomis IMX-PRO V2 Short Spey is designed to load easily to improve casting accuracy. The in-house Conduit-Core technology and the G.Loomis GL7 resin system reduce the overall weight, resulting in a lightweight, incredibly sensitive blank. The combination of high-quality, lightweight, and powerful material, paired with the sensitivity and precision of the V2, ensures that fishing with the new Short Spey is simply a pleasure.

  • Multi-Taper Design
Since 1982, G.Loomis has continually pushed the boundaries of fly rod manufacturing technology, material innovation, and product design. This is why G.Loomis fly rods are so popular and deliver superior performance, enhancing the experience and effectiveness on the water. There are countless examples of this philosophy, but one technology particularly exemplifies G.Loomis's endeavor to build the world's most advanced rods: the Multi-Taper Design. The Multi-Taper Design can best be described as a series of "micro-tapers" within the rod's overall taper. This unique, proprietary process allows for more material at potential break points and less material everywhere else. To achieve this, G.Loomis manufactured a custom rolling table... and it is the only one that exists today. The result is a catalog of precisely defined actions that offer a perfect balance between durability and performance.

  • Conduit Core Technology
Traditionally, as the diameter of the rod blank increases, so does the total amount of material used. This was the only way to ensure strength/durability in the lower half of the rod for many years. However, with G.Loomis's innovative Conduit Core technology, excess graphite wraps are removed and replaced with a proprietary material that provides the same strength but is significantly lighter. This reduces the energy anglers need to move the rod, increasing the overall energy efficiency required to manipulate the line during casting, mending, and animating flies.

In short, if you are looking for a specialized tool for effective trout fishing with a lightweight two-handed fly rod, the IMX Pro V2 Short Spey from G.Loomis is a perfect choice for you!
