However, the Merisuola Premium saltwater fly rod has searched in vain for a suitable reel, to meet the rigors and requirements of fishing in corrosive saltwater. Based on the first-class technology of the XO fly reel, Vision now has developed a reel that may accompany the Merisuola rod on its saltwater adventures: the Merisuola fly reel.
Vision Merisuola fly reels are milled from a solid block of aluminum and show a very precise finish, which is reflected in minimal play and tolerances of all moving parts. Large gaps in the reel and spool result in a very lightweight and unmistakable design, which we already loved in the XO. Due to the large-arbor design, the Merisuola offers a fast line retraction and has a very soft start-up resistance and constant braking resistance - no matter how full or empty the spool is. The revised, sealed carbon disc brake system of Merisuola makes for a smooth drag and parries rapid line takes of strong saltwater fish, with the sound of a pleasant clicker. The integrated counterweight completes the reel, providing a smooth ride and prevents you from bumping your fingers at high speeds. Of course, all components are protected against corrosion and 100% suitable for saltwater use.
