The ultimate fusion of two worlds, or rather two manufacturing processes, is offered by the new Remix-S HD (Heavy Duty) fly reel from Lamson. The second generation of the Remix-HD fly reel from Lamson not only features a visual update but also brings several other advantages: The Lamson boasts a larger spool diameter and arbor compared to its popular predecessor. This results in faster line retrieval and increased convenience during use. The large arbor spool design has been refined to enable smooth line management, and the drag knob has been enlarged and made more grippy for better control during the fight.
The Remix-S reel combines a CNC-machined aluminum frame made in the USA with a spool produced using aluminum die-casting. The result is a robust yet extremely lightweight reel, as the die-cast spool significantly reduces weight while the drag system is housed within a secure aluminum cage that protects the reel from minor bumps and impacts. The drag system, made in the USA, is assembled and tested by experienced Lamson employees. Thus, the finished reel is a mix of the affordable Liquid reel and Lamson's top-tier models. Another advantage of this is that the spool of the Liquid-S fly reel is compatible with the Remix-S reel frame. The proven sealed Lamson drag system of the Remix performs flawlessly, leaving nothing to be desired. Both the start-up inertia and the consistent drag resistance are highly impressive. In critical situations, the Remix releases line smoothly without any jerking – exactly what you would expect from a high-quality fly reel!
The Remix-S HD provides an affordable entry into the world of premium Waterworks Lamson fly reels. It features a high-quality, sturdy frame with a closed frame design, a premium drag system, and a lightweight, cost-efficient die-cast spool. This fusion of various manufacturing techniques and materials makes the reel an absolute price-performance winner! This set includes two additional spare spools of the popular reel and a large bag. Very practical and affordable if you are fishing for one type of fish with different lines and want to change quickly, or if you are fishing different rod classes with one reel.
Note: Unlike the standard Remix-S by Lamson, the HD (Heavy Duty) version is equipped with a closed frame design. This gives it added stability, making it an excellent choice for predator fishing or an economical option for use with switch or two-handed rods.

Waterworks is immediately associated by most fly fishermen with the lightweight, reliable reels. Yet the origin of Waterkworks lies in a small, innovative tool. In 1996, Waterworks was founded by two anglers and product designers because they found a better solution to remove the fly from the fish's mouth faster and more gently. Named after their hometown in Idaho, the first Waterworks product, the Ketchum Release Tool, was launched in 1996.
Even before Waterworks was founded, product designers were working with high-quality components. Ryan Harrison honed his skills and knowledge in high-performance cycling, for example. Among other things, Harrison developed suspension technology for Cannondale mountain bikes, so he was already familiar with wheels in the frame.
It was only logical that the founders turned to fly reels after the release tool. Because fly reels were heavy, overly complex and unreliable at the time, so there was work to be done here. With the question in mind of what the perfect fly reel looks like, the ULA was born and represents the foundation of today's high quality fly reels. Together with Lamson, the fly reels, rods and accessories, now enjoy more than two decades of passion, innovation and solid engineering - with no end in sight.
