Lamson Liquid Max Fly Reel cadet

The second generation of Lamson's Liquid fly reels not only brings an aesthetic update but also an expansion in the reel family: The Lamson Liquid MAX is joining the ranks! It may look like a Liquid from the outside, but it houses the Cobalt inside - the best of both worlds. Now, the proven Cobalt Drag System is available in the more affordable chassis of a Liquid fly reel. The size lineup of the different reel models has been adjusted and optimized for their respective applications. Compared to the first Liquid generation, the strength-to-weight ratio of the robust aluminum has been greatly improved through a completely redesigned spool and frame. The new spool shape has also been completely redesigned to allow for cleaner line retrieval. Additionally, the drag knob has been slightly enlarged and optimized for grip. The Liquid MAX carries the name and attire of a 'Liquid' but technically has much, much more to offer.

The formidable COBALT Drag System
The Liquid Max features the advanced Cobalt Drag System: a fully U.S.-made, all-stopping drag system with a proprietary Teflon alloy drag cone, Carbon-PEEK thrust washers, custom self-lubricating seals, and a certified waterproof IPX8 rating. The heat-resistant drag system runs on ABEC 5 ceramic ball bearings and is completely sealed waterproof (up to 30 meters deep). This virtually eliminates the penetration of dirt, grease, or salt, and any associated brake failure. Whether it's fast-swimming saltwater predators in the tropics or fresh salmon in Scandinavia, the Choice is Yours, and the braking system is your insurance!

This absolute high-end brake has been housed in a pressure-cast and then CNC-machined frame & spool to make the reel more affordable to produce and price fairly. Other features include the Ultra Large Arbor design, an integrated reel foot, the revised spool design that maximizes strength-to-weight ratio, and a larger, easy-to-grip drag knob that sits securely in your hand in the heat of battle.

The Lamson Liquid MAX offers "Made in the USA quality" at a very pleasing price - a highly reliable quality fly reel with an incredibly strong brake. A wolf in sheep's clothing.

About Lamson:

Waterworks is immediately associated by most fly fishermen with the lightweight, reliable reels. Yet the origin of Waterkworks lies in a small, innovative tool. In 1996, Waterworks was founded by two anglers and product designers because they found a better solution to remove the fly from the fish's mouth faster and more gently. Named after their hometown in Idaho, the first Waterworks product, the Ketchum Release Tool, was launched in 1996.

Even before Waterworks was founded, product designers were working with high-quality components. Ryan Harrison honed his skills and knowledge in high-performance cycling, for example. Among other things, Harrison developed suspension technology for Cannondale mountain bikes, so he was already familiar with wheels in the frame.
It was only logical that the founders turned to fly reels after the release tool. Because fly reels were heavy, overly complex and unreliable at the time, so there was work to be done here. With the question in mind of what the perfect fly reel looks like, the ULA was born and represents the foundation of today's high quality fly reels. Together with Lamson, the fly reels, rods and accessories, now enjoy more than two decades of passion, innovation and solid engineering - with no end in sight.
