The design of the reel is a hybrid of several previous models from Abel, combining the best of different approaches. The semi-enclosed back with chic stainless steel details creates a great balance between weight, stability and a unique look. The chassis is machined from rugged 6061 aircraft aluminum and hard anodized for extra durability and resistance. This special surface treatment gives the reel an incredible robustness against all external influences such as impacts, sand, scratches, but also aggressive salt water.
Inside the reel is a sophisticated mechanism and state-of-the-art drag technology. A combination between a click-pawl system and a multi-disk drag not only ensures fine adjustability of the resistance and a pleasant, characteristic clicker sound when pulling off and cranking in the line, it also allows uncompromising performance when stopping fast-swimming fish. This is ensured in particular by the five alternating carbon and stainless steel discs, which perfectly dissipate energy and distribute power to generate a fine-adjustable brake pressure. The drag can be finely adjusted in the blink of an eye via the smooth-running and easy-grip knob and always perfectly adapted to the situation at hand, the target fish, your leader thickness, etc. One less thing to worry about when your dream fish is raging at the end of the line.
The integrated double clicker is inconspicuously built into the inside of the spool and also serves as a counterweight for the crank, so the spool always turns perfectly balanced and never wobbles. As a little extra gimmick, Abel has engraved two fly patterns on the inside of the frame to match each reel size. The engraving can be seen through the open front of the reel - a great accent, we think. So the reel is not only a reliable companion in the hunt for your target fish, but a small work of art with collector's value.
