With the Elite Predator series, Rio introduces the latest generation of premium predator fly lines, perfectly designed to deliver large streamers accurately to the fish.
The short, powerful taper of the Rio Elite Warmwater Predator Fly Line loads your cast right from the first meters, even with wind-resistant flies or weighted flies. The compact head quickly transitions into the smooth running line, which, thanks to the ultra-smooth SlickCast coating, possesses incredible shooting capabilities. In practice, this allows for exceptionally long casts with few false casts or in limited backspace. This quality is invaluable in tight areas, the jungle, or narrow channels from a boat. If you have enough casting space, the short handling section allows you to time the perfect release point, achieving maximum casting distances. The line profile is slightly more balanced than other Rio predator lines. The short but well-matched front taper allows for precise presentations, giving you an advantage, especially when precision casting is crucial. The Rio Warmwater Predator is the ideal choice for streamer enthusiasts targeting Dorado, Peacock Bass, and similar species.
Another well-thought-out feature of the Elite Predator lines: The higher the line class, the shorter the head. While this might not seem intuitive at first, the applications of different line classes dictate that this trend makes absolute sense. Higher line classes, heavier flies, more compact head; lower line classes, slightly lighter flies, more balanced head length!
Floating/Sink5/Sink7: Starting at the tip of the line, the first 10 ft. Sink7, followed by a 10 ft. Sink5 section. Perfect for break-off edges, or for example in the river with some current. The rear head section and the running line are floating. This line also brings bushy flies with a lot of bucktail quickly under the water surface and thus to the fish!
Rio Technologies:
- Slick Cast
The name says it all! With this new technology, Rio has significantly shaken up the fly line market. Rio itself advertises it as the smoothest coating on the market. Casting performance, noise reduction, and the durability of the line are improved. We found the lines so smooth that we had to hold back a bit initially to avoid overshooting our metaphorical target. We can confirm Rio's claim.
- ConnectCore
With the low-stretch, braided core, you have ultimate control over your fly. The braid is strong and supple at the same time; even in icy conditions, the line remains absolutely tangle-free. The stretch is reduced by about 30% compared to other lines, so every slight pull at the end of your leader reaches you, even at great distances. On the water, this means better bite detection and yield, and even more controlled lure guidance.
