Cortland Cold Salt Floating / 10 ft Intermediate Clear Tip Fly Line

Tropical saltwater also has low temperatures, especially at the beginning or end of the season. Temperatures that some saltwater lines cannot cope with, as they are not warm enough and the coating does not soften. The typical tropical lines remain hard at low temperatures and curl strongly in cold water. The Cortland Cold-Salt Coating was developed precisely for this transitional period on the flats, a coating that becomes supple from a water temperature of 10 degrees or more, does not curl and shoots extremely well.

The Cortland Cold Salt Floating / 10 ft Intermediate Clear Tip fly line is equipped with this coating and serves as a perfect all-round line for the cooler salt water. This is because the head of the 100 ft line can be used for various fish species and scenarios. At 12.5 m, it is a rather longer head whose main weight is in the front section, just behind the front taper. The weight distribution and the short front taper ensure that larger flies can be cast on the one hand, and on the other hand that a good turnover can also be achieved with these flies. This heavier part is also a clear intermediate section, which greatly reduces the scaring effect during the presentation! After the first three meters, the head of the line slowly and steadily becomes thinner, like an extremely long rear taper, until the 12.5 m is reached. This slow, constant lengthening ensures that the head lies extremely well in the air and even long casts are no problem.

Redfish, bonefish, permit, the range of applications for this all-round line is wide, whenever accurate but also gentle casts as well as a presentation of the fly are required, the Cold Salt is a good choice. The well-balanced head offers long, accurate casts, while the clear intermediate front taper does not frighten the fish. With Cortland's Cold Salt coating, this line can be fished at temperatures as low as 10 degrees. So you can be the first to start the season and the last to finish it.
