The Monic Striper Elite Short Intermediate Fly Line is a powerful fly line that makes it extremely easy to load the rod and shoot the line. It's perfect for firing larger streamers without practicing many false casts. Additionally, the Monic Striper Elite Short Intermediate Fly Line offers an ideal and ingenious sink behavior at the same time. With a sink rate of 1.5 - 2 ips, it's an ideal intermediate sink rate to perfectly present streamers, whether targeting striped bass, pike, or more! Furthermore, the fly line has been designed with ingenious density compensation, meaning that the density decreases along the length of the line. This causes the front part to sink the fastest, while gradually becoming less dense towards the rear part of the head. In practice, this means that we always have direct contact with the fly, even in waves. This not only provides better line control but also ensures maximum utilization of bites.
The construction of the head is designed to easily load fly rods at close range and make shooting the line effortless. This has the great advantage that you can cast large flies fatigue-free throughout the day. The powerful head of the fly line is supported by a 10 ft long handling zone. This area of the line provides more control in casting and increases the lifespan of the line, as it is subjected to maximum stress when loading the fly rod.
The Monic Striper Elite Short utilizes the smooth braided fiber core for which Monic is so well known. The low to moderate stretch provides shock-absorbing properties when using particularly sensitive leaders and allows the line to be straightened with a light hand stretch, while requiring minimal force for effective hook setting. The core alone has no memory and helps create a fly line that remains supple regardless of whether it's hot or temperatures are below freezing in January.
Unlike many other fly lines that lose slickness due to surface treatments or chemicals leaching from the plastic, the Striper coating uses Monic's proprietary STS lubrication technology, which has been expertly formulated and evenly mixed into the plastic compound. This results in an extremely low friction surface that glides like a dream through the guides but does not decrease or migrate from the plastic over the life of the line. This means that your line will cast just as well with occasional cleaning as it did straight out of the box, even when fished in rough conditions. Like all Monic fly lines, the Striper Elite Short offers excellent durability overall!

Monic's high-quality lines are made in the USA and offer fly fishers a PVC-free alternative to many other fly lines on the market. No harmful chemicals are used in Monic fly lines. All components that make up a Monic line are 100% recyclable. And because no PVC is used, the coatings contain no volatile and harmful chemicals that have to be added to PVC to make a typical fly line. The American brand, which was founded in the 1980s, recognises that there is an essential and vital link between a healthy habitat and better fishing. Therefore, one of Monic's founding principles is to develop and deliver the best performing fly lines that also help protect our waters for future generations of anglers.
