The name already suggests it: The Loop Opti Flex Hover is a very versatile fly line, that excels in a variety of scenarios. Due to its balanced taper and a medium-length head of 9 meters, this hovering line performs great in a variety of fisheries. The short front taper results in a clean turn-over of weighted patterns and ensures that your fly always hits the target. For the dry fly, however, it is out of the question, because the line coating sinks very easily below the surface of the water. However, 'hover' lines sink more slowly than conventional intermediate lines which make them a perfect choice for all techniques in which the fly should be presented just below the surface. With a sink rate of less than 2.5 cm per second, the Opti Flex Hover sinks just enough so that wind and light waves no longer affect line management and the fly stays perfectly presented under the surface. With light nymphs, wet flies and streamers especially on lakes and quiet rivers, this line can lead to a lot of success!
The Opti Flex is also particularly popular with Sea Trout anglers. On the coast there are many days when the fish prefer to take the fly just below the wave. Then you are well advised to use a Hover line!
