Arctic Silver's Micro Diameter (MD) fly lines are characterised by an extremely small diameter, ranging from 0.75mm (#3 to #6) to 0.80mm (from #7). Much thinner than conventional fly lines! This results in lower friction in the rings, excellent wind cutting, hardly any air resistance when casting and of course more space on the reel! In addition, when the line lifts off the water surface, less splashing water is caused, which reduces the negative effect on the fish. The core of the MD Flylines consists of a stable line braid, which is extremely durable connected to the coating. The two micro loops allow for quick connection to leader and backing. The taper of the Micro Diameter fly line is equally suitable for speycasts and overhead casting.
With the MD Compact 2.0, the product developers from Arctic Silver present the latest member of the ever-growing line family from Scandinavia. The first version of the compact head fly line has already pleased us and many Sea Trout anglers. Now the second generation takes it up a notch! The taper has been slightly revised and above all the diameter has been reduced again. The line now turns over your fly even better and thanks to a handling section of 4m you get more control over all casting distances. The presence of the short belly is noticeable the moment your rod and line connect. No matter if you lift your line out of the water or overhead. The short belly of the Arctic Silver MD Compact 2.0 measures only 8.5 m and therefore allows for a particularly fast loading of the rod with optimal energy utilisation. You notice immediately: this line is designed to get the fly in the water quickly. And at the end of the day, this is often the deciding factor between success and failure.
Slow Intermediate: A great choice for the coast! With the Compact 2.0 Intermediate you offer your Sea Trout fly exactly where most fish hunt - namely under the wave. If you are looking for a versatile line for the Baltic Sea, with which you can cover many typical situations, then this line is a clear buy recommendation for you. In the higher line classes, this line is also an interesting alternative for Pike fishing, e.g. in shallow water areas up to 1.5 m water depth. And in the lighter line classes, the Compact 2.0 Intermediate is excellent for stillwater fishing for Salmonids.
ArcticSilver Colour Code:
Each line class has its own colour code at ArcticSilver. This colour code is not only found in the colour of the running line or on the loop of the ArcticSilver flying lines, but also on the matching rods of the Norwegian manufacturer. For example, ArcticSilver's #6 class has the colour "blue". So all #6 flying lines have a blue running line and all #6 fly rods have a blue marking. So you can see at a glance that line and rod harmonise and you always know exactly which line is on your reel.

First of all, the Norwegian manufacturer ArcticSilver is known for a truly innovative range of fly rods. All of these rods have one unique feature in common: the so-called Free-Flex-System including the Quick-Lock reel seat. This patented design allows the blank to swing inside the handle, which creates outstanding casting and fish fighting properties. In fact, ArcticSilver offers many different models that are suitable for a variety of different fly fishing disciplines – whether casting delicate dry flies for trout or massive streamers for large predators. In addition, ArcticSilver also presents a large selection of modern fly lines that have a very thin diameter due to their so-called Micro Diameter (MD) design. This design allows record-breaking casting distances thanks to minimum friction in the rod guides and hardly any air resistance. In fact, these advantages are not only noticeable in combination with an ArcticSilver fly rod, but also with rods from other manufacturers.
