Countless fans of the highly popular OPST Commando shooting head asked for it. Now it’s finally there: the Commando Smooth Integrated fly line for light Skagit applications!
The new Commando Smooth Intergrated fly line combines the fantastic cast-ability of Commando shooting heads with the convenience of a full fly line. The short, aggressive taper of the original Commando Head has been carried over into the design of the Commando Smooth fly line and is now seamlessly connected to a low-stretch, memory-free shooting line with a super slick coating – for you to enjoy true Commando performance without knots rattling through the guides. With a head length of only 3,6 m to 4,5 m these lines effortlessly present weighted nymphs, streamers and bulky dry flies in tight quarters with minimal room required for casting. Especially when fishing streamers or heavy nymphing-rigs these lines allow for very efficient fishing – without fussing around!
Originally Skagit shooting heads have been designed for steelhead fishing, yet with the OPST Commando range of shooting heads and fly lines you can now enjoy the simplicity and efficiency of Skagit casting when fishing for trout, sea trout, Pike and other predators – you name it. Being a Skagit line Commando Smooth fly lines require floating or sinking Tips for maximum performance. For this fly line we recommend using Commando Tips between 5ft and 7ft. However, tips between twenty to fifty grain from other manufactures work perfectly fine as well.
The new Commando Smooth fly line combines the advantages of the popular Commando Skagit Head with those of a high quality integrated line. The result: effortless casting, efficient fishing, improved line management and mend-ability.
