With the Single Hand Scandi WF, Guideline introduces a super interesting and extremely versatile floating line for single-handed fishing. Thanks to its unique taper, this fly line makes Spey casts, roll casts, and traditional overhead casts incredibly easy! The smooth front taper, combined with a relatively short belly, allows you to achieve delicate presentations even in higher line weights while maintaining efficient casting. Each line weight in this series has been optimally adjusted to provide perfect performance for the intended fishery – from trout and sea trout to salmon. The lighter models offer delicate dry fly presentations, while the heavier segment is powerful enough to carry salmon flies. Despite its name, this line is also perfectly capable of performing overhead casts with beautiful, stable loops. In short: a fantastic all-around line for most fishing situations and a strong contender for the title of 'favorite fly line.'
About the Taper Design
The Single Hand Scandi WF was designed by Guideline with a perfect all-around taper length for each line weight, meaning that each individual line weight has its own taper length but features the same short back taper and handling line. This ensures that the line feels consistent, regardless of which rod or line you use, maintaining that special feel throughout! The unique, continuous front taper places most of the line’s mass towards the rear of the head. This means you’ll feel the load more easily, as the bulk of the line is immediately behind the rod tip when forming your D-loop. The rear taper, combined with a tapered handling line, stabilizes the head during overhead casting and eliminates much of the "hinging" sensation typically found in shooting heads.
The color of the head is white, which is not only visible to the angler in a variety of scenarios but also fairly discreet. The running line has a very bright yellow color, making it easy to see during retrieval for the next cast. The total length varies between line weights to better suit the different scenarios in which the lines are primarily used.
The Guideline Single Hand Scandi WF fly line is extremely versatile and casts beautifully in every line class. We are convinced that both beginners and advanced anglers will come to love this floating line and will want to use it across different line classes!
