The Cortland Precision Indicator Nymph is a fly line specifically designed for nymph fishing. Its super high-floating, 61-centimeter Chartreuse-colored Dyna-Tip ™ tip provides excellent drift control and bite detection, eliminating the need for an additional strike indicator in most situations. However, if the light is low, flow conditions are high, or the weight of the nymph is too great, an additional indicator can easily be used as well.
The line profile of the Indicator Nymph line is optimized with a short front taper and a powerful head, so that you can carry an air-catching strike indicator, the leader, a heavy nymph, and/or a multi-nymph rig without power loss during the cast.
Regular WF lines are often overburdened with these heavy nymph setups, because their power transmission is not sufficient to carry the extra weight of the indicator, nymphs, etc., resulting in tangles while casting and a frustrated angler.
The entire head length of 17.35 meters makes this line suitable for all streams in which you fish with larger line lengths. This means not only the casting distance is improved, but the total drift length is also increased. For example, if you cast directly upstream and let the nymph approach, pass by, and then drift downstream, the Indicator Nymph line allows for excellent line control and mending over a total drift length of over 30 meters! The Indicator Nymph fly line in #7 and #8 are excellent for chasing Steelhead, Coho, and Chum Salmon with heavy nymph patterns and large indicators.
The Indicator Nymph Fly Lines have welded loops on both ends for quick and easy connection with the leader and backing.
