For modern nymphing techniques such as the so-called Czech- or French-Nymphing and other methods, which are summarized under the collective term Euro-Nymphing or High-Sticking, a fly line with conventional taper structure is little conducive. On the contrary, because on the one hand the weight of the line permanently pulls on the leader and thus prevents a deep, free drift of the nymph. And secondly, the weight of the line in the rings and in front of the tip has a negative effect on the sensitivity of the rod, which in turn affects bite detection. Therefore, the thinner and lighter the line, the better the drift and bite detection.
For these reasons, Rio's new Premier Technical Euro Nymph fly line uses a stiff, monofilament core with an extremely thin coating. The stiff core of the line prevents the line from sagging between the rod rings, as well as the line slipping completely back to the reel when the rod tip is pointing towards the sky. Furthermore, it is easier to add line for the drift by moving the rod and the line sag between the rod guide and the fly is significantly less.
In addition, the core at the front end goes beyond the line and becomes the leader of the nymph line with a 0.33 mm diameter. This has the great advantage that there is no knot connection in the rod guide and thus nothing can get caught on the rings. Because when using the sometimes ultra-thin leaders, any short resistance is enough to break the tippet. The integrated leader of the line has a pink coloring for better bite detection. The color pink is also commonly used in the so-called sighters, as it stands out very strongly against many different backgrounds and thus ensures optimal bite detection. The RIO line has a constant diameter, so the line can be adjusted to any length, that of course also applies to the front part of the line.
The Technical Euro Nymph line is a specially adapted line with a monofilament core and extremely thin diameter for easy handling and optimal bite detection. Those who like modern fishing with the nymph will love the line!
Tip: A sighter is a so-called visual aid, which is knotted, for example, in Euro Nymphing between leader and tippet and helps the angler to better recognize bites. Frequently used colors are: Pink, orange, yellow, but also black, for better visibility on bright, for example white stones and ultra clear water.
