This means that these leaders are almost invisible in the water. Especially when fishing in still water or crystal-clear running water, fluorocarbon often has the edge over conventional nylon (monofilament) leaders. On the other hand, fluorocarbon sinks easily, whereas nylon floats on the surface. For this reason and also because of its higher abrasion resistance, FC is often used for streamer or nymph fishing.
