The Scientific Anglers Absolute Fluorocarbon Tippet is made from 100% Fluorocarbon and is suitable for both fresh- and saltwater applications. The 30 m spools have a handy cutter and a silicone tape, which protects the high-quality fluorocarbon.
Like any other FC, the Fluorocarbon from Scientific Anglers has two major advantages: Firstly, FC has a similar refractive index to water. This means that FC leaders are almost invisible in water. In crystal-clear waters it is therefore often ahead of conventional nylon (monofilament) leaders. On the other hand, fluorocarbon sinks in slightly while nylon floats on the surface. For this reason, and also because of its higher abrasion resistance, FC is often used where stones or other structures pose a danger during the fight.
