*1In nymphing techniques such as French nymphing, traditional surface bite indicators are not used as they unnaturally accelerate the free drift of the nymph close to the bottom. Instead, sight aids (so-called "sighters") that do not support the weight of the nymph are used. Bites are sensed due to special rigs, leaders, and thanks to sensitive rods (#2 - #4).
The Traper Elite Dou Nymph Sighter is used in Euro nymphing, as nymphing techniques are often collectively referred to, for better observation of the leader and drift. The monofilament is colored so that it can be optimally perceived against various backgrounds when hanging in the air. It changes color from red to yellow every 50 cm and can be cut to the appropriate length coming off the spool. The silicone-coated line not only aids in better bite detection but also allows for better estimation of the depth at which one is fishing, thanks to the changing color every 50 cm.
