Cortland Indicator Mono Leader Material - Sighter - White Leader Material 50 ft

The Cortland Indicator Mono Leader Material - Sighter - White is the perfect addition to any Euro Nymph leader. In nymphing techniques using the tight-line method (e.g., 'French Nymphing'), traditional strike indicators on the water surface are not used because they unnaturally accelerate the free drift of the nymph near the bottom. Instead, visual aids (so-called 'Sighters') that do not support the weight of the nymph are used. The bites are detected through special rigs, leaders, and thanks to highly sensitive rods (#2 - #4).

This Sighter from Cortland is used in 'Euro Nymphing'—the common term for these nymphing techniques—to better observe the leader and drift. The monofilament is white so that it can be optimally perceived against various dark backgrounds while hanging in the air. Additionally, the white Sighter material allows you to color it with different marker pens, making it stand out perfectly against the background. This popular Sighter material is available in different diameters, allowing you to build your ideal leader setup. As usual, you can insert a small Pitzenbauer ring between the tippet and the Sighter for a secure connection or use a Perfection Loop.

You can choose the tippet material—fluorocarbon or nylon (we recommend the slightly stiffer Stroft ABR for nymph fishing)—depending on the water level and target fish.

A typical setup looks as follows: Nymph leader (between 12 and 30 ft.) + 30 cm visual aid + 150 cm to 200 cm tippet.
