The Arctic Silver Micro Diameter (MD) Reverse Density Viper shooting heads feature a concept that is unusual for fly lines: The rear end of the shooting head has a higher weight than the tip. Physically, this means that on the one hand the energy flow from the loaded rod can be transported directly into the thicker and denser line, respectively the casting distance, and on the other hand the higher density of the shooting head end actively pulls the light tip under water.
Arctic Silver's Micro Diameter shooting heads are characterized by an extremely small diameter, resulting in excellent wind speed, hardly any drag when casting and of course more space on the reel! When the line is lifted from the water surface, less splashing water is caused, so the effect on fish is less. In addition to the increased casting distance, which is also made possible by the small diameter of the line, the sinking heads also help you to get to where the fish is faster. Especially when fishing for salmon, where it is important to control the presentation of the fly even in fast flowing water, the Reverse Density System supports the positioning of the line under water. By lifting and lowering the rod tip, the sinking speed and the buoyancy of the shot head in and with the current can be controlled and influenced even better.
This unusual physical feature of the Arctic Silver shooting heads makes them an innovative product with many advantages and new casting, sinking and drifting characteristics.
Arctic Silver MD Reverse Density Viper shooting heads load modern two-handed rods with confidence and are suitable for all Spey casting styles (and overhead casts). A great sinking shooting head with a small diameter. All shooting heads are equipped with welded loops.

First of all, the Norwegian manufacturer ArcticSilver is known for a truly innovative range of fly rods. All of these rods have one unique feature in common: the so-called Free-Flex-System including the Quick-Lock reel seat. This patented design allows the blank to swing inside the handle, which creates outstanding casting and fish fighting properties. In fact, ArcticSilver offers many different models that are suitable for a variety of different fly fishing disciplines – whether casting delicate dry flies for trout or massive streamers for large predators. In addition, ArcticSilver also presents a large selection of modern fly lines that have a very thin diameter due to their so-called Micro Diameter (MD) design. This design allows record-breaking casting distances thanks to minimum friction in the rod guides and hardly any air resistance. In fact, these advantages are not only noticeable in combination with an ArcticSilver fly rod, but also with rods from other manufacturers.
