The pheasant tail nymph belongs in every trout bum's fly box - or at least it should. It is perhaps the most famous and certainly one of the most productive nymphs in the world. The nymph is similar to most aquatic insects below the water's surface, making it a reliable choice in almost any situation, whether on brown trout, rainbows, char or grayling. A faceted bead in a bright metallic pink gives this version a little extra sparkle. We particularly like to fish the black version of this pattern in the summer evening hours, into the twilight, also on the dropper as an emerger.
