Fishing with large attractor flies and search patterns is extremely exciting - especially for big trout. Often it is the first cast that is perfectly placed that causes aggressive surface attacks. It is probably the size of the flies, coupled with a rough landing, that attracts the fish's attention and makes them think it is a worthwhile prey. Overhanging bushes, sweeping currents, willow roots and sunken dead wood: without restraint, even big fish leave the safe stand to pounce with force on the supposed prey!
The Tsjernobyl Ant or Chernobyl Ant is called "ant", but strictly speaking it is not a real ant imitation. This high-floating foam pattern is much too big for that. It is rather a hybrid of stimulator, hopper (terrestrial) and comparable patterns. In the end, however, this does not matter. Because it catches - and catches very well!
