The CDC Midge by Guideline is a filigree pattern to imitate small, dark flies - as they can be found on every water body. Both trout and grayling often react very positively to tiny, diffuse patterns and it is not uncommon for large and delicate fish to respond to them. For presentation, we recommend long, thin leaders and a drop of CDC oil, which is carefully distributed into the wing with the fingertips. A pattern for the professors among the trout and grayling and situations where you are not sure which small fly the fish are currently rising for.
