The Tricolore owes its name to the three hackle colors in which it is tied. This traditional pattern was originally tied as an imitation of an insect pupa, but in our eyes it is a real all-purpose weapon, because the bushy dry fly does not imitate any particular insect, but can imitate both an aquatic and a terrestrial insect due to its silhouette. Thanks to the dense palmering of the hackles, this pattern floats very reliably even in turbulent water. If you want the fly to sit a little deeper in the surface film, you can simply trim the underside of the hackle with scissors. This trick has often led to success with tricky fish.
