*1After 20 years of experience and over 38,000 Raptor wading jackets sold, Geoff Anderson can claim with a clear conscience: Historically, only 0.5% of all Rapotor wading jackets have failed the tough use in practice and have been claimed. That's impressive, isn't it? Regardless of the water column pressure, the choice of materials and construction has proven that nothing works better in practice than the way the Raptor wading jacket is designed. The evolution of the Raptor jacket over the last 20 years has led to a perfection of its features. The Raptor impresses with a jacket design that combines waterproofness, resistance and mobility in simple simplicity. For this reason, this style has attracted both beginners and professionals.
In the 6th generation of the Raptor, a few small things have been improved over the previous models:
- Lower weight
- New functions and features
- Increased breathability
- Thinner membrane
- Improved tape technology
The Raptor 6 wading jacket is 100% waterproof, windproof and breathable and made from Geoff Anderson's Fusion fabric. A substance (membrane) is applied to the fabric, which is then incorporated into the material and becomes an integral part of the fabric. This technique is by far the most durable for freshwater and saltwater fishing. To protect this membrane, the jacket has a mesh lining that also improves the microclimate. In addition to the latest material technology, the Danes also place great emphasis on clever details. The features of the Raptor 6 therefore include a hood with one-hand adjustable drawstrings. The elastic adjustment system makes it possible to adjust the fit exactly to your head, even if you are wearing a beanie or cap. The revised wrist/cuff closure incorporates Geoff Anderson's latest closure with neoprene lining and moulded velcro. The jacket features spacious box chest pockets that close tightly and keep out rain and moisture. In addition, a large back pocket with zipper and a Napoleon pocket (inside pocket), which can be operated without opening the jacket. There is a small attachment loop on the front that can be used, for example, for a scissors or other tools. The heavy centre front zip is protected by a double fold-over flap with Velcro fastening and stainless steel buttons, providing additional protection against wind and weather.
Even in its latest generation, the Rapotor is without doubt one of the best value-for-money wading jackets on the market. The Raptor 6 picks up on the advantages of the previous models and expands them with functional improvements. The Raptor series is known for its robust and durable design, and the choice of material ensures that it will outlast many other jackets. We like that a lot. After all, durability makes the most sense when it comes to limiting the impact on the climate. Individual parts of the Raptor 6 are also Ökotex-certified. In short: an excellent wading jacket for environmentally conscious and price-conscious fly fishers, and generally an excellent choice for anyone looking for a field-tested, reliable solution for all weather conditions.
We like the look of the Black Special Edition of the Raptor 6 even better and with the size JX (Jumbo XL or 8XL) there is also a suitable jacket for really tall fly fishers!
