Patagonia M's AlpLight Down Jacket BLK

The Patagonia AlpLight Down Jacket is the ideal choice for fly fishermen and outdoor enthusiasts who value lightweight, packable, and warming clothing. With its thoughtful design and high-quality materials, it offers optimal comfort and protection in various weather conditions.

Thanks to the use of 800-fill down certified by the Responsible Down Standard, the AlpLight Down Jacket provides excellent insulation performance at minimal weight. Weighing only about 270 grams, it can be easily packed into its own right-hand outer pocket and fits into any backpack – perfect for adventures where space and weight are crucial. The stitching and arrangement of the individual chambers are designed to prevent the down insulation from shifting too quickly while ensuring maximum freedom of movement. For example, the collar is extra thickly filled, while the shoulder and elbow areas are thinner. Another invisible yet important feature of the AlpLight Jacket is the DWR coating, which makes the outer material permanently water-repellent. Light rain showers or high humidity in fog won’t affect the jacket, keeping the down dry.

The outer material of the jacket is made from NetPlus® nylon, which is 100% recycled from discarded fishing nets. This environmentally friendly material helps reduce ocean plastic pollution and highlights Patagonia’s commitment to sustainability.

Specifically for fly fishermen, the jacket offers practical benefits:

  • Freedom of movement: The slimmer fit allows unrestricted motion while casting.
  • Water-repellent coating: The PFC-free DWR impregnation protects against light rain and moisture, keeping you dry even in changing weather conditions.
  • Packability: As temperatures rise, the jacket can be compactly stored and quickly put back on when needed – ideal for unpredictable conditions by the water.

In short: The Patagonia AlpLight Jacket is a fantastic jacket for all activities. Due to its ultra-compact pack size, it is particularly well-suited as a transitional jacket for days when bitter cold in the morning gives way to warmth as the sun rises. In the morning, it provides warmth by the river, and in the afternoon, it takes up hardly any space in your backpack! It is also perfect as a layering piece under a wading jacket during the coldest months, and thanks to its ingenious down construction, it allows for maximum freedom of movement even under wading gear.
