The Alfa Arctic Click C-Series Nymph & Dryfly Full Frame fly reel is a classic yet modern fly reel featuring a full-frame design and a click-and-pawl braking system. In addition to providing a sturdy construction, the closed frame ensures that thin monofilament lines, such as modern nymphing lines or running lines, do not slip out of the cage. This is a significant advantage that many nymph anglers, as well as streamer anglers who use shooting heads, truly appreciate.
The click-and-pawl braking system is entirely sufficient for smaller classes of trout fishing and produces a distinctive sound thanks to the clicker. The braking force of a click-and-pawl system is generated by a clicker (also known as a pawl) that clicks against the teeth of a gear to create resistance. This resistance slightly slows the spool, preventing the line from freely running off the reel and preventing the reel from overspinning when a fish makes a run.
