The strikingly shaped hooks were originally designed for spin fishing with a Texas rig for perch and co. However, this shape offers us fly fishermen an ingenious way of tying the fly upside-down so that the hook point is pointing upwards. This tying method has two decisive advantages: firstly, we can fish extremely close to the bottom or lay the fly on the bottom, and secondly, the hook point of various streamers is hidden in the material so that the streamer can be pulled through the weed. This hook is most commonly used in streamers for trout, perch and zander, but large pike flies can also be ideally tied with the PR380.
The Ahrex hook from the Predator series is stable and, like all Ahrex hooks, has a chemically sharpened point and a black nickel finish.
